After gains Wednesday, Asian markets were hammered today as investors' fears about the global economy resurfaced. China's Shanghai Composite dropped 2.4%, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 Average plunged 6.5% and the broader Topix lost 6%. South Korea's Kospi sank 7.6%, the Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong gave up 7.1% and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index plunged 8.7%. Singapore's Straits Times slumped 2.7%, Taiwan's Taiex dropped 5.7% and India's Sensex dropped 3.8%.
