New administration spurs both hope and worry

While many small-business owners hope that President-elect Barack Obama's policies will benefit them and improve the country's economy, many worry about how Democratic control of both the House and Senate will play out. Paula Davis, who owns two small businesses in West Lafayette, Ind., points out that Obama's tax policy will affect small-business owners who make less than $250,000 annually differently from those who make more. "I am confident that he has the best interests at heart for middle-class Americans and small-business owners -- that is, the small-business owners who don't net over $250,000 annually," she says.
