Officials hope to close achievement gap among Vietnamese students

A recent survey shows that students in highly populated areas of Vietnam are performing better in subjects such as maths and Vietnamese than their peers in more rural areas of the country. Teachers in those mountainous regions of the country also said their textbooks are inadequate, and while officials say they have taken steps to ensure achievement of all children, the divide continues to grow.
