Therapeutic cooling used for pediatric cardiac patients

Nurses and doctors at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia are using therapeutic hypothermia to help protect the brains of children who experience cardiac arrest. Nurses induce rapid cooling by using a cooling blanket and ice packs and then turn and monitor the patient to prevent skin damage or side effects.
