U.S. indicts 14 in "Octopussy" insider trading probe

Federal prosecutors charged 14 individuals with insider trading on Thursday. The elaborate operation featured a ringleader code-named "Octopussy" and made use of throwaway cell phones and bundles of money. "The casual betrayal of corporate secrets by insiders ... makes a mockery of our system," said Preet Bharara, the Manhattan U.S. attorney. The SEC has filed a related civil case.
