Boomers are hard to categorize politically

Despite their popular reputation as anti-establishment, boomer politics run the gamut today, with one of the few discernible patterns being a Democratic leaning among older boomers and a tendency to vote GOP among younger ones, according to Pew survey. A lifetime of voting may have begun with a vote for George McGovern in 1972, says Carroll Doherty of the Pew Research Center. But "they've moved quite a distance since then," Doherty says.
