IAG strengthens Heathrow presence with purchase of BMI

Unless the British government steps in and requires International Airlines Group to divest some of its slots at London's Heathrow Airport, the carrier will control 53% of the slots there following its purchase of BMI. "The sale and closing of the deal remain subject to conditions, including a binding purchase agreement, further due diligence and regulatory clearances," the airlines said in a news release.
