NS: Hiring spree in 8 states includes Pennsylvania

Norfolk Southern is set to hire about 100 people for various rail jobs in three Pennsylvania cities as part of the Class I's hiring spree in eight states. The hiring is driven by industry growth and replacement of retiring workers, as well as the importance of Pittsburgh as a key hub for NS, said NS spokesman Dave Pidgeon. Investments in infrastructure, intermodal, people and technologies show that the freight rail industry is "a bright spot in the economy, especially in a slow-growth economy," said AAR spokeswoman Holly Arthur.
