All eyes are on the U.S. presidential contest as voters head to the polls on Election Day 2012, but key contests will be of particular interest to LGBT Americans. In Wisconsin, Tammy Baldwin could make history as the first openly LGBT candidate elected to the U.S. Senate, while victories by a handful of out House candidates across the country could double LGBT representation in Congress. Marriage equality campaigners will be looking for their first win at the ballot box as three states decide whether they will allow same-sex couples to wed, while another considers a constitutional amendment to ban the practice.
