The Curiosity rover is a paragon of high-reliability engineering, and Flextronics International played a part in its design. The company's High Reliability Solutions Division assembled 47 cutting-edge sensors for each of the rover's actuators at its Valencia, Calif., facility. “We work on design for assembly, design for cost, design for supply chain, and design for reliability," said High Reliability Solutions Division President Paul Humphries. "We work hand-in-hand with our customers' design engineers to come up with the most robust, cost-effective design that can be made in high-volume production."
