API to challenge crude export ban using international trade law

The American Petroleum Institute may challenge the long-standing U.S. crude export embargo by invoking international trade rules. An official API document indicated the group plans to "highlight potential violations of the World Trade Organization rules against export restrictions" to state its case. "Export issues are something we're going to have to address. It's a debate we have to have," said API Chief Economist John Felmy.
