Gestational diabetes more common in perinatal stroke, study finds

Gestational diabetes was a factor in 33% of cases of babies with perinatal arterial ischemic stroke, while only 10% of those with watershed infarct and 4% of those with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy were linked to the condition, research showed. The results were presented at the Child Neurology Society meeting.
