Hopes for British manufacturing bolstered by 1.2% increase in output in September

The British manufacturing industry has regained confidence following a report by the Office for National Statistics of a 1.2% increase in manufacturing output in September. The increase, which reversed the 1.2% decline in August, indicates that industrial production in the country rose by 0.6% during the third quarter. "A marked rebound in output in September from August's surprise drop indicates that the manufacturing sector's upturn remains intact and it enjoyed a very decent third quarter overall," said Howard Archer of IHS Global Insight.
