How to observe Native American Heritage Month in the classroom

November is Native American Heritage Month and teachers can incorporate the cultures and traditions of various tribes into classroom lessons, writes Vincent Schilling of the St. Regis Mohawk tribe. In this article, Schilling encourages teachers to study tribes from the local region, invite a tribal historian to class to talk to students, and complete projects that address Native American stereotypes.
