India opens up to foreign banks

Foreign banks now have a wide opening to set up business in India's underserved domestic market as the central bank follows up on promises of a looser regulatory environment. As announced Wednesday, if foreign banks set up wholly owned units in India, they can establish branches anywhere in the country under the new rules.
