Medicare enrollees can shop for dental coverage on exchanges

Medicare-eligible adults should not purchase health insurance from an Affordable Care Act exchange, but those who do not have a Medicare Advantage plan that offers dental benefits may buy a dental plan through an exchange. Stand-alone dental plans for adults are not subject to the same rules as health insurance plans, they do not qualify for tax credits and they are unavailable in the 36 states where the federal government is running the exchange.
