Study looks at prevalence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy in young patients

A study in Diabetes Care found the prevalence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy in youths was 25.7% in those with type 2 diabetes and 8.2% in those with type 1 diabetes. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy was also associated with a worse cardiovascular risk profile, including central obesity, hypertension and microalbuminuria in young patients, researchers said.
