Study ties iron status to long-term diabetes, CAD outcomes

Researchers at Wroclaw Medical University in Poland found high levels of soluble transferrin receptor and both high and low serum ferritin levels strongly predicted five-year all-cause mortality rates in type 2 diabetes patients with stable coronary artery disease. The findings appear in Diabetes Care.
