Maryland Weighs Viability Of Algebra Requirement

Maryland school officials are pushing to require all students to learn algebra -- considered a gateway course to higher levels of math -- to graduate from high school, but there is some concern over how many students are ready to learn the subject. According to some skeptics, requiring algebra will doom a large number of students to failure.
