U.S. Sees Spike In Comfort-Food Consumption

Dietitians and psychologists say more Americans are turning to comfort foods to deal with anxieties after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and recent anthrax reports. The increase in comfort-food sales is supported by a recent AC Nielsen survey of supermarket sales that revealed a 12.4% jump in snack-food sales and a 13% increase in sales of instant potatoes.
