FDA approves generic AIDS drug for children in other countries

The U.S. FDA has approved a generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's AIDS drug Epivir, produced by India's Aurobindo Pharma, for use in children. The drug was approved under the Bush administration's program to increase the number of low-cost AIDS drugs in other countries, but the generic version will not be available in the U.S. because of existing patents.
