Biovail may trim dividend to fund acquisitions, chief says

Biovail CEO Bill Wells said the company is eyeing a number of business-development opportunities and may reduce or eliminate its dividend to finance deals. The Canadian firm said its "underlying operations are strong," but an analyst said Biovail may find it hard to get good acquisitions or license treatments because of high costs and competition from other drugmakers.
