Environmental group sues over Jersey Shore project

The Surfrider Foundation filed suit to prevent a beach replenishment project along the Jersey Shore, alleging the project could contaminate the beaches. The lawsuit asks that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers perform a chemical study on the sand it plans to dredge for the $9 million project. The dredging location could contain sand with fecal coliform because it is close to outflows from the New York Harbor.
