Lifeway CEO hopes to keep company fresh with new products

Julie Smolyansky, who took over Lifeway Foods at age 27, combines aggressive distribution with innovative products such as kefir, a probiotic dairy drink. Now 33, she has led the company to income growth of 40% between 2003 and 2007, with sales jumping 21% in the first half of this year to $22.6 million.
