Parker Hannifin sticks to acquisition strategy in tough economy

Parker Hannifin Corp. has spent about $1 billion in credit on acquisitions this year, even as the credit markets tighten lending standards. "We have for many years had a target, to grow 5% a year through acquisitions," said Christopher Farage, a Parker spokesman. The motion and control technologies company, based in Cleveland, has purchased 12 companies so far this year.
