Prophylaxis does not reduce febrile UTIs or renal scarring

Research shows giving children who have had a febrile urinary tract infection antimicrobial prophylaxis for 12 months does not reduce infection recurrence rates compared to a group that did not receive prophylaxis. The study also found similar rates of renal scarring for both groups after 12 months.
