Expert: mHealth can break the "cycle of doom"

Mobile health applications can lower overall health care costs by giving patients without insurance, or with limited access to health care providers, health information and tools for disease management, Bob Allen, AstraZeneca's director of mobile and social media, said during a presentation at the Digital Pharma East conference. Mobile health apps can break what Allen calls the "cycle of doom," wherein high costs lead to high rates of uninsured people, which drives costs higher, impeding investment and growth.
