IOM report takes aim at potential health IT risks

The Institute of Medicine is set to release a report Thursday that focuses on potential risks stemming from electronic health records, patient portals and other health IT systems. The report, titled "Health IT and Patient Safety: Building Safer Systems for Better Care," will propose ways for the federal government, providers and IT vendors to protect patients.
