Museum cleaner mistakes artistic flair for stain, ruins expensive piece

An overeager cleaner at a German museum ruined a valuable piece of art by removing what she took to be a stain. The work, by late German artist Martin Kippenberger, features an arrangement of wooden slats with a bowl at the bottom. The cleaner removed brown paint from the bowl meant to look like water discoloration.
