Oreo makes a splash in India

Kraft Foods launched locally made Oreo cookies in India in April, and the brand now commands 6% of the cookie market and 31% of the creme-filled chocolate cookie category. "Right at the onset, we adopted a strategy to drive awareness and rapid trials," said a company executive. "Along with its pricing strategy, the company's 1.2 million-store network in urban and rural India came handy too."
