Study links renal hyperfiltration to stroke in diabetes patients

A study that used SPECT to image cerebral flow reserve index found that 22% of patients with either metabolic syndrome or type 2 diabetes who had hyperfiltration of the kidneys experienced a stroke. The results indicate that renal hyperfiltration may contribute to a higher risk of stroke in such patients, the researchers said at the World Congress on Insulin Resistance, Diabetes, and Cardiovascular Disease.
