Careful coordination among the school nurse, teacher, parents and pediatric endocrinologist of type 1 diabetes patient Willow Shawl helped her monitor and keep blood glucose levels in check and adhere to medication. Brenda Isaac, lead school nurse in Shawl's district, says parents of students with type 1 diabetes should check the quality of care in their child's school system and find out who will monitor their child's health.
