API's Gerard: Industry is ready to work with Obama on energy

The American Petroleum Institute is prepared to work with President Barack Obama to achieve his pledge of boosting oil and natural gas production that will spur economic growth and generate jobs, said Jack Gerard, API president and CEO. Clearing TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline is one way to realize that goal "right off the bat," Gerard said. The president should also recognize that hydraulic fracturing is effectively regulated by states and that he "avoid the temptation to impose duplicative and unnecessary regulations" on the drilling technique, Gerard added.
