Applied geography, GIS are catching on in Europe

Europe is becoming aware of the value of applied geography and tools such as GIS in much the same way that the U.S. has, writes Richard D. Quodomine, who is with the New York Department of Transportation and is an AAG member. "While firms may continue to grow in the U.S. and elsewhere, the competition for geospatial jobs will expand, with many people from different nations competing for jobs that might once have been considered the sole province of Americans," he writes.
