Augmented-reality-app market is predicted to hit $300M next year

The economic ecosystem surrounding augmented-reality apps is expected to reach $300 million in 2013, up from $82 million this year, according to Juniper Research. "[T]he primary implications for marketers is that if they're not already considering incorporating augmented reality into a campaign, then they should be," said Juniper principal analyst Windsor Holden. Though copyright, libel and privacy issues may hamper future development, a mixture of advertising, paid downloads and post-download content is expected to bring in $5.2 billion in revenue by 2017.
