Commentary: ACOs should focus on specific patient populations

A commentary in the journal Health Affairs stated that accountable care organizations should reach out to specific patient populations such as those with chronic diseases, while policymakers should continue to reassess the success of the model. While it may not be a one-size-fits-all approach, the ACO model may serve as part of a broader effort to reach such goals as improving care and reducing costs, the opinion piece said.
