Election reshapes congressional defense committees

At least nine members of the House Armed Services Committee and four members of the House Appropriations defense subcommittee will not be returning to Congress next year because they lost their re-election bids or retired. The Senate Committee on Armed Services is losing five members, and the Senate Appropriations defense panel is losing one member.
