Farm to School program provides healthy snacks

In a California school district, students are eating healthy snacks such as apples and pears -- all grown locally and provided through the Farm to School program. At participating schools, a different fruit or vegetable is featured each month and made available in the cafeteria and provided on carts for students to take at recess. "The more we can show it to kids, the more we can expose them, the more likely they will be to make those choices on their own," said Nicole Meschi, the district's foodservices director.
