Twitter stays up despite massive Election Day traffic

Twitter's infamous "Fail Whale" didn't make a single appearance on Tuesday despite the high volume of traffic the website received. Users posted more than 30 million election-related tweets and during a one-hour span in the evening, the site was dealing with nearly 10,000 tweets per second. One tweet by President Barack Obama was retweeted more than 700,000 times, making it the most retweeted post ever.
