AAFP seeks member comments on bipartisan plan to repeal, replace SGR

The AAFP Board of Directors is seeking feedback from members on a bipartisan plan from the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance committees to repeal the sustainable growth rate formula and replace it with alternative payment models linked to quality of care, such as the patient-centered medical home model and accountable care organizations. "Congress has not been able to look at better payments for primary care physicians because of the chokehold the SGR has had on its attention," said AAFP President Reid Blackwelder, M.D.
