American Airlines gives U.S. Marines first-class seats

American Airlines went out of its way to welcome home 13 U.S. Marines returning from Afghanistan by giving them first-class seats on the final leg of their journey from Chicago to San Diego. "American Airlines has a policy of upgrading military personnel if seats are available," said Mary Frances Fagan, a spokeswoman for the carrier. American had six first-class seats available on the flight, and then convinced seven passengers to give up their first-class seats for the returning Marines.
