Calif. education board approves alternative science plan for middle schools

The California State Board of Education approved an alternative plan to allow middle schools to either teach integrated science or continue to teach the disciplines separately. An expert panel convened by the state's Education Department had recommended the integrated approach for middle schools as part of the state's transition to the Next Generation Science Standards. However, the department introduced the alternative plan in response to feedback from teachers.
