Many students do not know how to have a conversation, author, speaker and educator Allen Mendler writes in this blog post. Whether it's because of talk shows or the influx of texting and tweeting, Mendler suggests eight ways to teach the art of conversation, including modeling good conversation, encouraging physical cues, teaching students to cut out hurtful comments and asking open-ended questions.
