Election brings new construction, funding promises to higher education

Bond issues to fund new building projects on college and university campuses were big winners with voters on Election Day Tuesday. Maine voters approved two separate $15.5 million bonds to build new facilities at the University of Maine and the state's community colleges. North Carolina voters approved a $210 million bond for new facilities at Central Piedmont Community College. In other contests, Bill de Blasio, the new mayor-elect of New York City, has indicated that he will work to increase funding for the City University of New York.
