The European Securities and Markets Authority has approved four derivatives trade repositories: Central Securities Depository of Poland; Depository Trust & Clearing's Derivatives Repository; Iberclear and Clearstream's joint venture, REGIS-TR; and the London Stock Exchange's UnaVista. "The data gathered by TRs will enable regulators to identify and reduce the risks associated with derivative markets," ESMA Chairman Steven Maijoor said. "ESMA's TR supervision will ensure more robust market infrastructures and benefit investors, financial markets and the economy as a whole." ESMA also confirmed that trade reporting will be mandatory starting 12 February.
