European, U.S. shares decline

Poorer economic prospects in Europe as suggested by an unexpected European Central Bank rate cut and a stronger outlook in the U.S. that pointed to possible early tapering by the Federal Reserve sent European markets lower Thursday. In the U.S., corporate results pulled shares lower despite a robust debut by social network Twitter.
