Ill. marriage bill awaits governor's signature

The Illinois House of Representatives passed marriage-equality legislation Tuesday after months of debate. The 61-54 vote took place nearly nine months after the Senate passed a similar bill. Shortly after the House vote, the Senate passed the bill again and sent it to Gov. Pat Quinn, who has indicated that he will sign it. Quinn's signature will make Illinois the 15th state with marriage equality when the bill takes effect June 1.
