Michael Mathis, vice president of global gaming development for MGM Resorts International, said the firm remains committed to its proposed casino in Springfield, Mass. On Tuesday, voters in Palmer, Mass., rejected a casino proposal by Mohegan Sun. "[W]hether it's a five-operator race or a one-operator race, we remain focused on our project, which is two years in the making," Mathis said. Springfield voters approved the project earlier this year, leaving MGM as the sole applicant for the regional casino license.
