Ohio preschools are implementing more rigorous curricula

Teachers in some preschools in Ohio are focusing more on subjects such as math, science and language. Puzzles are being used in some programs to teach children to compare size, count in English and Spanish and develop coordination. "Preschool teaching is more literacy-based. It's about getting the kids ready to read and teaching them mathematical reasoning," said Shelley Doerschuk, an instructor in education at Malone University in Canton.
