Protocol improves peach quality before shipping

University of California, Davis, pomologist Carlos Crisosto started researching ways shippers could deliver better quality peaches about two decades ago. Today, 80% of the state's industry take the extra step of pre-conditioning or ripening the fruit before it's put into cold storage, and the practice has spread to shippers around the globe.
